Artist Statement

Me: So, tricky question to begin with, what is the everyday?

Me: Well, who knows exactly?

Me: Surely, you must have an idea? That is what your work is about after all, isn’t it?

Me: Well, I can certainly say that I observe and question my own everyday. I’m interested in its enigmatic character, with it’s ability to be mundane yet also marvellous. Also, isn’t it strange? It’s collectively experienced, but it somehow is unique to us all? I may understand my own but not his, or hers, or theirs.
(Excitedly pointing)

Me: Hmm, interesting. So let me get this straight, the work is addressing your daily life, conversations, experiences etc.? And you’re allowing the viewer to enter your playful, bizarre environment in order to experience it themselves… perhaps to entertain them, or encourage them to rejuvenate their own way of thinking? Or maybe even force them to question the everyday we live in?

Me: Couldn’t have said it better myself.
